Oakland, CA [November 15, 2002] - ATI Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: ATYT) and Jacobs Pineda, Inc. (JPI) today announced a chip technology licensing agreement that will bring JPI Audio core cell technology to the digital home entertainment market in next generation televisions. ATI, a world leader in computer graphics integrated circuits and products, has chosen the JPI digital audio core cell technology for next generation television products.  The JPI technology enables ATI to provide users with high quality audio while keeping equipment costs low.

JPI's integrated circuit core cell designs perform function such as Dolby Digital (r) decoding, SRS TruSurround(t) decoding and audio D/A conversion. They are the world's smallest, most cost effective designs for digital audio processing requiring only a fraction of the area of DSP-based designs. The JPI core cells are designed to share silicon real estate with other audio/video processing found in highly integrated multi-media VLSI chip designs.
